Excellent/Subversive Blogs

I was honored to be included among Ed Gilbreath’s list of excellent/subversive bloggers last month. Ed’s discussions of race in America just keep getting better. He is my go-to source for analysis of presidential hopeful Barak Obama.

Here’s my own list of 10+ excellent/subversive blogs (in no particular order):

  • Reconciliation Blog for the reasons already noted. I’m also eagerly awaiting the launch of UrbanFaith.com, which Ed is spearheading.
  • California Stem Cell Report for this sailing reporter’s unrelenting examination of the country’s leading public state funding of human embryonic stem cell research. His post on Geron Corporation’s stock price plunge tickles me pink … especially after hearing a Geron-funded Oxford University researcher essentially say there’s little chance of overcoming the immune challenges of potential HESC therapies.
  • Dream Awakener for the inspiring quotes and prayers.
  • Khanya for an Orthodox African take on world/church affairs.
  • Religion Writer for its comprehensive approach to religion news.
  • Seedlings in Stone, Love Notes to Yahweh, and Green Inventions Central because everything L.L. writes is beautiful, thoughtful and challenging.
  • The Margins because Erika is walking the talk where others wouldn’t dare to tread … in the neighborhood around USC. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Erika and her kiddos in their home, so I can visualize her stories of helicopters and police sirens punctuating her family’s days and nights.
  • Phoenix Preacher because this blog is the only on-line community that I’m aware of where the spiritually abused can find comfort … even though I still gag on the mind-numbing allegiance of some regulars to Chuck Smith, the chief Calvary Chapel abuser.
  • Jesus Creed and NextReformation … well, you knew they’d make my list.
  • Stuff White People Like because it reminds me, in a light-hearted way, of all the things my son Gabe taught me about my own ignorance.
  • Behind the Books, Strangely Dim, Loud Time  and Suburban Christian because these IVP editors’ blogs are engaging, informative and, of course, well-written.

I hope you find something you like on my list ♥

Your very overzealous holy rant on stem cell research turns me a bit pink. Try as you may to steer opinions stem cell therapy will “come to pass”….to use a biblical term keeping you happy.

Thanks for the link! I look forward to visiting some of the other blogs on your list, since if you liked mine, I might like them.

I was surprised and very moved to see the PP on your list.

Your family has been in our prayers in this time of unimaginable grief.

I pray that we continue to merit your consideration.

    Thank you.

Mr. Abernathy, I’m sorry that you perceive my opinion as a “holy rant.” I’ve no energy for those. In case you missed it, I’ve spent quite a bit of time with stem cell researchers and it is my educated opinion that therapies will come, if at all, from induced pluripotent stem cells. Sorry.

Steve, Thanks for stopping by. I hope to get to Africa one day soon. I had hoped to go with my son, who was half Tanzanian. He is home with the Lord now.

Michael, I’ve continued to follow PP since the brief shut-down last summer. It’s a good place and keeps getting better. I’m often encouraged by the love and diversity I find there.

Thank you too for the prayers. The loss is nearly unbearable. Often it is entirely so. Pray especially for Jeff. I don’t really have to function much; he does … in a competitive sales environment, and for Mike’s continued healing.

    Blessings to you~

    Christine,

With your permission I would be blessed to put your family on the PP prayer list.

Jeff has a network of loyal friends who have prayed, are praying, and will continue to pray for him as well as you and your son.

Again, thank you for your kind words.

I think I need some time to check the list out. I am new here. Cheers, Zeynep.

    Welcome Zeynep. Blessings~

L.L., I’m enjoying your posts on art … one of my favorite subjects. Maybe I’ll get back to it someday myself.
